About the Seventh Annual ‘Taste of DeSoto’
The Seventh Annual “Taste of DeSoto” benefits the American Liver Foundation. Starting this year we partnered with the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi to expand our distribution of benefits to include selected local charities.
The ‘Taste of Desoto’ is a unique food tasting event highlighting the cuisine of approximately 50 restaurants in DeSoto and surrounding counties.
In 2004, the Taste of Desoto began when Tim Mote, a DeSoto County businessman, received a liver transplant. He was diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) which is a liver disease with a potential to cause cirrhosis, liver failure and liver cancer. Due to Tim’s dedication and enthusiasm in spreading the word about liver wellness and helping others with liver disease, the Taste of Desoto began. We will continue to honor Tim Mote by allocating a portion of the profits each year to the American Liver Foundation.
Last year, with over 1000 attendees, this event raised over $52,000 for the programs and services of the American Liver Foundation Mid-South Division.
